I grew up on rap music in the 80's. I watched it go from conscious to braggadocious to bass to gangsta to club to bling to whatever you wish to call it now.

I still enjoy rap, but not even remotely close as I did 25 years ago when Big Daddy Kane, Rakim MC Lyte and others were doing their thing.

Tonight, we'll discuss the lyrical side of rap, the business side and the future of rap:

  • We'll discuss "payola."
  • If hip hop stars getting married will influence young guys to 'put a ring on it.'
  • A teen who gave up a college scholarship to pursue his rap career.
