"Talking White" & Curse Words #TBT

(Show #703 originally aired June 17, 2017)

On this TBT edition, I pulled a snippet of a show that was called, "Do You Care What People Think Of You?".  It was a show that discussed if people cared about how society perceived them.  Is there no such thing of being ashamed of your actions these days?

However, the show took a turn when Crystal brought up how people once perceived her as someone who "talked white".  Is abstaining from Ebonics or broken English a form of cultural assimilation in whiteness?  Crystal and Dr. Willis have a serious disagreement about the topic.

What do you think?  Feel free to leave feedback below.

Crystal, Buck, Dr. Willis, and M&M get into "talking white and curse words" on Throwback Thursday!

Q-on-1 w/Model Dawn Moultroup

I get an opportunity to chat with Shimmer supermodel and the 2020 International Runway Model Search winner, Dawn Moultroup!

Listen to the podcast here.

Dawn joins me to discuss her modeling career and how she got started.  We also chat about the thing she most enjoys about her career.  I also pick her brain and get her opinion of "IG models" and if they are truly to be considered models or not.  What actually qualifies a person as a model?

Oh, did I mention that she's also an author?  Her book, "Magnetism" will be out soon in Amazon and other book websites.  It is a supernatural / sci-fi story about a young girl who realizes that she has the ability interact with electronics.  The story behind the inspiration for her writing the book will blow you away!

All of this and more on this Q-on-1 edition of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!

How To Date A Single Parent

Let's be honest: in 2020, it's very hard to find someone over the age of 21 who doesn't already have at least one child.

Stream the show here

That makes relationships a lot more complicated these days because gone is the era in which all you had to worry about was one person. Now you have to consider your mate as his/her "broke best friends".

How should you approach it? How can you find someone you can blend with and ultimately build a family? How do you know that person isn't just trying to make you a "helper" and not a long-term option?

There are so many questions one has to ask himself/herself before you ever think about pulling the trigger on finding a bae. We present those questions to you on this week's live call-in edition of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show. "No experts. Just opinions."

Get the perspective you've never considered before delivered to your ears from one of my callers or Show Legends on this week's T2Q.

Are Fathers Still Needed? #TBT

(Show #354 originally aired on June 17, 2014.)

Of course my answer is "absolutely." I can't imagine being the man that I am without my father helping to mold me. However, there are a lot of women who have done everything on their own. A lot of them have raised some really productive children, but a majority haven't been as lucky.

With so many women claiming "independence" and "I don't need a man" where do fathers fit in? With so many fathers living life as sperm donors, due to their lack of motivation, do they deserve to fit in?

This TBT edition was a huge show as I was joined by Crystal, Buck, Ray, Amanda, Dr. Willis, M&M, Eric, Robin, and Stanley!  This was a controversial show that got heated at times.

Q-on-1 w/Dawn G. Smith of ROSA, Inc.

I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Dawn G. Smith of the podcast, "Let's Talk Live" and the movement, "Raising Our Sons in America".

Listen to the podcast here.

Dawn is the mother of three boys and I felt as if she was perfectly qualified to discuss the following topics:

  • What's the husband's role when it comes to Mother's Day?
  • As a mother of three black boys and Georgia citizen, how did the Ahmaud Arbery shooting affect your family?
  • How does Raising Our Sons in America (ROSA) help young, black men in today's society?
  • What is the perfect Mother's Day for you?
I had an absolute great time speaking with her and you'll have a great time listening to the interview. And stay tuned at the end of the interview as I share some thoughts on Mother's Day now that my mom is no longer here. I share a story that I've never told anyone about.

I hope that you enjoy this Q-on-1 podcast on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show.

What Are You Watching on TV? #QuaratineLife

On this show, we're discussing TV shows and movies. What are you binge-watching these days?

Listen to the show here.

There are a ton of options when it comes to TV viewing now. It's hard to believe that most of the people my age and up grew up with just 4 stations on TV. I was in high school when my family finally decided to get cable and it opened a whole new world to me. Now some would argue that there's too much TV to watch these days. If you find yourself saying, "there's nothing on TV" in today's time then you may have ADHD. There's Netflix, Hulu, Sling, Disney+, and more. Not to mention your traditional satellite and cable companies and new streaming services like Peacock and HBO Max. Which one is better? Which one gives you more bang for your buck?

A lot of us are stuck at home and we need something to do to pass the time. I'll ask my callers what they're watching. I'm binge-watching "Black Lightning", "The Office" (again), "Queen Sono", and the occasional movie.  What are you binge-watching during this quarantine period?

All these things and more on this live edition of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show! "No experts. Just opinions."

I Joined the Out of Bounds Sports Podcast

The Out of Bounds podcast is an up-and-coming show that discusses all things sports.

Listen to the show here.

The host, Corey Harrison, gives his guests the opportunity to opine on many sports topics.  Not only does he discuss nationally-followed sports such as the NBA and NFL, but he also allows people who used to play sports to talk about their experiences in the game from Little League to high school.

Corey and I mainly discussed two of my favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Lakers.  We also dipped into the conversation that everyone has been having the past few Monday mornings and that's about "The Last Dance" documentary on the Chicago Bulls.

I had a great time on his show and I look forward to being on again some day.  Check it out and show your boy some support!

Q-on-1 w/Actor, Scott Schwartz

Listen to the show...

Part I
Part II
Part III

I've done many interviews before, but very few like the one I did with actor, Scott Schwartz. Many of you have seen Scott in movies and TV shows from the 80's, but he's most known for his role as "Flick" in holiday movie, "A Christmas Story". His character's iconic moment of getting his tongue stuck on the icy flagpole has been seen by millions and will always be a staple in the holiday season.

Scott was barely a teen when he started in movies. What was life like for a kid from New Jersey who interacted with so many Hollywood types? Were child stars friends with one another? Were they taken advantage of financially? Were they able to live normal lives as children? Scott gives insight into all of that.

We also discuss the relationships he's built over the years with Hollywood legends: Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason to name a couple. The friendships he built with people like Hulk Hogan or Barry Bonds will be talked about as well. And we will dive into "The Two Coreys". Just why does Corey Feldman appear to still have such animosity about the late Corey Haim?

This is too much for one episode, so be sure to enjoy each part of my Q-on-1 podcast with Scott Schwartz on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show.

The Unsportsmanlike NFL Draft '20 Review

Listen to the podcast here.

Callers from all over the country join me to discuss the results of this year's NFL Draft. We give our opinions on which team came out winners and which teams wasted their time. This draft was filled with talented players and many teams took advantage of that.

Each year the NFL Draft offers an opportunity to add that "missing piece" to the puzzle that creates a championship contender. Who will be the next Patrick Mahomes or Joey Bosa?

Did Green Bay and Philadelphia both make mistakes drafting QB's as high as they did?  Will that cause controversy in the long run?

My Show Legends and others will give our two cents on how we expect things to shake out once the NFL season resumes as we get Unsportsmanlike on T2Q!

Badman and Brad
It was a lazy Saturday during this quarantine period, so I figured that I'd hit up a couple of T2Q funny guys to entertain you all (as well as myself)!

Listen to the show here!

Brad Preuss, a long-standing T2Q favorite on Twitter chimed in from Florida. And no, regardless of what you think, he is not "Florida Man".

Show Legend, Badman, makes a return appearance from Arkansas and as usual, he doesn't care what we talk about. He never has a shortage of anything to say.

It's an unorthodox show with no real topic, rhyme, or reason. Just me listening and laughing to two T2Q comedians.

Do You Trust Politicians In Handling COVID-19?

This show may be the most volatile that I've done in quite some time.  The United States is so divided when it comes to political ideologies and each day the gap grows.  It's to the point that the name "United States" is an oxymoron.

Listen to the show here.

What is the driving wedge between those on the Left and those on the Right?  Is it the 24-hour cable news stations pushing their agendas that's separating us?  Is it social media and their conspiracy theories and propaganda that makes us turn a deaf ear to others who may have a different perspective?  And where does it leave those of us who may fall in the middle?

On this show, we'll discuss how the government (local and national) is handling the COVID-19 pandemic.  Do conspiracy theorists think that COVID-19 is a form of "population control"?  We'll also talk about what we can do to regrow the economy after all of this is over.  Of course, there will be Trump supporters as well as Trump bashers on this show and I'll have to play referee between the sides.

Wish me luck.

"You Call Yourself A Real Man?"

You can't be an adult male and have never heard a woman uttered the title "a real man". But what exactly is "a real man" and what makes him different from a plain old "man"?

Listen to the show here!

This is the definition that Urban Dictionary has for "a real man": A real man has manners, is polite, and considerate. He is honest and open and true to himself. He will fight for and defend the people that he loves. He is a hard-worker. He is not spiteful. He respects women and shows appreciation for all of his blessings. A real man is the provider of the family. He is strong, physically and mentally, and is never too proud to exhibit strong emotion. Once committed, he is faithful to only her. He does not watch porn or disrespect her in any other way. He helps with housework and is a role model for his children. A real man knows who he is, what he wants, and is grateful for what he has.

Do you agree?  Well, I'm sure that my male Show Legends have a lot to say about that definition. This should be an interesting show, to say the least! Buckle your seat belts for this one!

Generation X vs. Millennials

Janeecia and Imani
Listen to the show here!

As a 70's baby, I have my own personal view of the world: The way my parents raised me, the type of content that was available on TV to watch or on the radio in which to listen, the interaction with other adults in my life, like neighbors and teachers. These things and more shaped my outlook on life.

But things have changed dramatically since then. A lot of people don't have both parents present in the household like I did. The things on TV and radio now wouldn't have made it on the air back in the 70's. Neighbors are kept away from kids now and teachers and students are at war.

So, how do 20-somethings navigate society with all of the potholes in place? Where do you get educated on life lessons when there appears to be a shortage of those who can teach you?

Well, I'd like to welcome on a couple of young ladies who are currently going through this as we speak. Two Millennials.

These ladies have a new podcast called "Let's Talk 20 Somethings". It's a show that discusses a lot of topics that interests young people and gives their perspective of how they see the world.

Q-on-1 w/Actor & Boxer, Jack O'Halloran

He went from contending for the heayweight championship of the world in boxing to being an actor on the silver screen in Hollywood.  On this podcast, I get the opportunity to speak with one of the most interesting guests to be on my show, Jack O'Halloran!

Listen to the show here!

Although he's been in many movies, most people remember him as the big, scary guy from Superman II.  His character, "Non", didn't speak, but he got his point across as he gave Superman fits throughout the movie.

But very few people know that he was a solid heavyweight who had bouts with George Foreman and Ken Norton.  And he actually had an opportunity to fight Muhammad Ali, but that fell through.  Oh, did I mention that his father was the mob boss for Murder, Inc. in the 30's and 40's?  See the story of his dad chronicled in his book, "Family Legacy" available on Amazon.

We'll discuss that as well as his time spent in Hollywood as I got Q-on-1 with the multi-talented, Jack O'Halloran.

He's a CNN Hero of the Week Award recipient and the CEO of Confidential Recovery, San Diego's premier outpatient treatment facility. With over 30 years of continuous recovery himself, T2Q welcomes Mr. Scott Silverman to a Q-on-1 discussion about substance abuse and depression.

Listen to the show here!

Scott and I discuss how the mandatory quarantines from COVID-19 are affecting those who battle with alcoholism, drub abuse, and depression.  The suicide rate has increased since the pandemic started and people like Scott are on the frontline to help those in need.

We discuss his background and how he overcame his personal demons.  I probe him to find out what inspired him to help others get clean.  I also get him to break down the ins and outs of an intervention.  Is it just like we see on reality TV?  We also talk about his book which you can find at the link under his photo.

These things and more as I give you another Q-on-1 discussion with another intriguing and insightful guest!

Stream the show here!

I'm thrilled to get the opportunity to chat with a fellow podcaster and author, Ms. Erica Warren!

On this Q-on-1 podcast, Erica and I discuss how COVID-19 is affecting families and relationships. Cabin fever is real and with people having to self-quarantine along with significant others and children, how is it impacting their lives?

We take for granted the freedom to get out of the house and do the things that allow us to unwind and lower our blood pressure. How do you handle life when that is no longer an option?

Erica and I will toss around some ideas on how you can get through this coronavirus thing without your loved ones driving you crazy!

We'll also discuss her newest book called "In Spite Of It All" that is coming out soon and is currently available for pre-order!

Do Men Need MORE Legal Rights?

Stream the show here!

"This is a man's world!" is what James Brown once scream over the radio air waves. But, is that the case when it comes to the legal system in the United States?

We've seen women walk away with half of a man's fortune after a divorce. We've seen guys get hit with child support for children they didn't want. Guys also can't do anything if they want to keep the child and the woman doesn't have it. We've seen men falsely-accused of sexual assault, but they never truly get their name cleared.

On this podcast clip from the past, the Show Legends discuss a story that went viral a few years back.

A mother decided that her child is not obligated to share his toys with other kids at a public playground. Her logic, and I'm paraphrasing, was: adults don't share food with people in public just because they're there, so why should kids do the same?

This show was off the chain as I was joined by one of the reality stars of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta," Mama Joyce (Jones)! She's the mother of former Xscape singer/songwriter, Kandi Burruss and she has been a huge part of the RHOA show.

But is Mama Joyce simply misunderstood? We all know of people who have protective moms. Some of us even had moms who seemed to put their noses where others thought it didn't belong. Is she just a typical mom who wants what's best for her daughter? I dive into the following questions with her:

  • Just what is it about Todd Tucker (Kandi's fiancee') that truly bothers her?
  • Is it more difficult to maintain a relationship with her daughter with millions of people watching?
  • At what point should a parent step back and let their children make a mistake?
These things and more as Mama Joyce kicked down the doors of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!

Also, for the 1st time in T2Q history, I had a co-host! Crystal Hickerson from The Crystal Show joined me to tag-team Mama Joyce! :)

Relationship Reparations

Thu., Feb. 20th @ 8 PM Central Time

We've all dated and been through bad relationships. We put in the time, effort and money into someone who just wasn't for us for whatever reason. In the end, we usually have nothing to show for it. If there were only a such thing known as relationship reparations.

Oh, well. Since you can't get those then I guess you'll have to find other ways to get satisfaction after a break up. On tonight's show, we'll discuss all things relationship as I probe your mind with some of the following questions:

  • Do you get more satisfaction by improving your life after the break up or by your ex's life getting worse?
  • Do some people treat child support as a form of reparation?
  • How do you get over bad break ups?
We'll kick around those topics and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show! "No experts. Just opinions."

T2Q Show Relaunch Intro

It's so good to be back on the airwaves!

I want to welcome all of you to the relaunching of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show. This brief podcast will give you some insight into the show if you're new to it and it will refresh the memories of the loyal listeners of days past.

I decided to restart the show because the fire still burns for me. There's so much to talk about these days and some things just need to be said. I kind of wish that I could have gotten in on the Gayle King or Super Bowl Halftime Butt-Shaking discussions from a week ago. But, all of us who watch the news daily know that there's something crazy happening on a daily basis worth discussing. So, the show will never be at a lost for topics.

The show will not air on a weekly basis like I did once before. It will air on an as-needed basis which simply means that if there's something I really want to discuss then I'll schedule a show for it.

Enjoy this introduction and I'll see you on 2/20/20 at 8 PM Central Time for the real thing!

Peace out!

the Talk 2 Q Radio Show Returns February 20th!

Guess who's back?

After a one year hiatus, the creative fire has returned and I've decided to continue with the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!

I dabbled in podcasting a bit, but the live show is my passion.  I enjoy the random callers mixing it up with my Show Legends on so many different topics.  Here, you will find topics about politics, relationships, sex, celebrity news, sports, race relations and more!

My goal is to continue to get you all to hear different topics from different perspectives and think about it before you make a decision of your own.  I will do my best to remain neutral and simply provide the questions and occasionally play devil's advocate!  After all, the show is about you, the caller.  That's why I named the show "Talk 2 Q" and not "Listen 2 Q".

The show will return on Thursday, February 20th at 9 PM Eastern Time.
