Q-on-1 w/Julie Shipley of The Soup Shop

Mon., Nov. 21st @ 12 PM Eastern.
It's me and the Florida entrepreneur in a 1-on-1 conversation!

Duration: 16 mins.

I have a chat with a lady who turned her hobby into a business!  Julie Shipley cooks and ships soup to people all over the country with her business.  On the podcast, she shares information on what steps people should make before starting their business.  A lot of people may not know the opportunities they have that can assist their businesses, but Julie gives tips on some of them.

We discuss how she got started and the types of soups that she has on the menu.  It's a very interesting podcast that documents the American dream and how Julie achieved it!  Here's more on her business:

We started out by first catering to restaurants, since that is where this whole story really began, remember? They loved our delicious, attitude-filled, bountiful bowls of gourmet, homemade soup goodness and the Soup Shop was born.

Now we deliver serious soup anywhere and anyone can enjoy the love, passion, dedication, fun and souperior soup making attitude we put into each and every bowl of our soup. We want you to enjoy it as much as we do, but we also we want you to know we absolutely love making our soup for each and every one of you that enjoys it.

It's just about time for Halloween and will mean parties left and right this weekend.  Guys will be treated to women wear the sexiest costumes that they can find.

The question is: when did Halloween go from being about kids, costumes, fun, and candy to a public display of bedroom role playing?

Guys usually wear the goofy and offensive outfits while the ladies show us versions of nurses, teachers, cops, etc., that we've never actually seen in real life.

On this show, we will discuss this, the clown sightings that have been prevelant in the south, and more on this Halloween edition of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."

Q-on-1 w/Author Victoria Bolton

Friday, Sept. 30th @ 12 PM Eastern.

It's me and the award-winning author in a Q-on-1 conversation!

Duration: 45 mins.

I enjoyed my conversation with Ms. Victoria Bolton about her Rude Boy trilogy of books and you will, too!

The Pacific Book award winner gives the listeners insight on the characters and story lines in her books.  We discuss her idea to write the books and some of the work involved in self-publishing.

Here's Victoria in her own words:

"I am the author of the Rude Boy USA Series, the first installment which was published in December 2015. The positive response to the series from readers all over the world has been an honor. I’m looking forward to bringing you new stories in the future.

I am a single gal who writes novels and works during the day for little money. If you would have told me that I would be doing this when I was younger, I would have said that you were crazy.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be married with three kids, own a cat, be a nurse and a astronaut but that did not come true. I used to wear glasses and I freak out at the sight of too much blood.

The writing part is cool and very rewarding. It has changed my life for the better and for that I am forever grateful."

What started as a 10-15 minute interview reached 40+ minutes as I found myself wanting to pick her brain for more information on her product and her methods to create!

How can a book change the way you look at the world?

Duration: 12 mins.

On this podcast, I have a Q-on-1 discussion with blogger and author, Jamell Crouthers.  We discuss a few things on the show, but mostly about his view of the world and how he hopes to influence change.  His book, The World We Live In: A Poetry Book on Societal Issues, looks to do just that!

Available now on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and other locations, this book focuses on fictional characters and chronicles their life experiences.  Each person details an experience that changed and impacted them in ways they never considered.  There are only names and no race or ethnicity mentioned in this book.  The reason being that Jamell wants the readers to understand and relate to their experiences as human beings.

Talk 2 Author, Tommie Mabry!

Tommie Mabry lives by the words, “I cannot walk in my future with my foot in my past."

Duration: 45 mins.
Tue., June 28th @ 9 PM Eastern.

Mabry, 28, grew up in midtown, or what the locals call Northend, a neighborhood in Jackson that he says was not necessarily the easiest neighborhood to grow up in.

“I have lived a life that’s beyond 28,” Mabry says. “The average 28-year-old hasn’t lived close to how much I have been through. … I come from the 'hood, I come from poverty. No one from my family finished high school. ... I don’t have a family member before me to ever finish college.”

Growing up with no one to serve as a model for mainstream success, Mabry turned to life in the underground economy and ardently abided by the code of the street. Mabry was expelled from seven elementary schools and three middle schools in the Jackson Public Schools district, and by age 11, he was serving time for burglary and began getting his first tattoos as early as the 5th grade.

Tonight, I'll talk to him about how he turned his life around and went from a bad example to a role model.  You'll have the chance to talk to him as well by dialing (347) 202-0215.

Q-on-1 w/Morgan McCane of #PullEmUp

Recorded 3/29/2016
Fellas!  Morgan says "stop saggin'!"

While visiting one of their favorite fast food restaurants, two sisters observed a young man walking in the mall, sagging his pants which revealed his underwear. One sister was so disgusted with seeing this awful site that she immediately lost her appetite and couldn’t finish her meal. It was at that table in the food court at a mall in Mobile, Alabama that G.A.B.S. was formed.

The sisters believed that they could use their gift of “gab” to start a conversation with other girls, and those girls could have a conversation with other girls, and so on, about working together to end this disgusting sagging pants epidemic. They were convinced that if enough girls were able to band together, through their mutual dislike of seeing boys sagging, they could get them to “pull ‘em up”.

Bringing girls of all ages together to have a conversation about this horrible fashion fad, how it’s affecting our community, and what we can do to reverse this fashion trend is the first step toward making a change.

I welcome Morgan McCane and her parents to the show to discuss how G.A.B.S. came to be and where they want to see it go.

the Talk 2 Q Radio Show Turns 5 Years Old Today

Happy birthday to me!

Stream the podcast here!

I just wanted to drop a quick podcast in recognition of today.  Today marks the 5th birthday of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show.  The show started on Feb. 20, 2011 as the Thank, Q Radio Show and over time the title changed and my format as well.  For those who have been along for the ride, you know that my show is ever-evolving.  I'm always looking to do things that not only make the show better, but I want to make it more informative.

I always encourage people to listen, but I have to remind them that I don't want you to take what me or my callers say to heart.  That's not the purpose of the show.  The purpose of the show is to bring up things mainstream America shies away from and give you different perspectives on those topics.  From there you can draw your own conclusion.  Never will I tell someone that my theory is the end-all, be-all theory.  However, the show allows me and my callers to spark something within you to make you think.  At that point, you can draw your own conclusion to take with you in your daily life.

Better yet, you can call in and share your newly found perspective with me and the listeners and help all of us grow.

T2Q will continue to evolve as the show gets older.  The show will continue to go through a metamorphosis that will hopefully bring about more listeners.  More listeners equals more callers.  More callers equals more opinions.  And that's all I ever wanted from Day One.  "No experts.  Just opinions."

Thanks for 5 years.

ZC: Manning Scandal, Dunk Contest, & More!

Zone Coverage returns to T2Q to discuss sports once again!

Stream the show here!

The Peyton Manning Scandal

A scandal that occured in the 90's has reared its ugly head again here in 2016. Allegations that Peyton Manning "teabagged" a female trainer whom he disliked caused a stir two decades ago. It supposedly ended with two separate settlements, but has now come up again. We'll discuss some of the details involved.

NBA All-Star Dunk Contest

Was this the best of all-time? Do the dunks make the star or does the star makes the dunks? Virtually unknown players put on an amazing performance last week with some very creative dunks. How does it match up with some of the older competitions. Was it better than 'Nique and Air Jordan? We'll discuss.

We'll talk about those topics, the NFL Hall of Fame, and more on Zone Coverage! "Talk sports from the couch!"

#T2Q: Feb. 16, 2016 - Getting Cheated On, Abortions Made Public, & Black Dollars

Getting cheated on, abortions made public, and the power of black dollars on tonight's T2Q!

Stream the show here!
Tue., Feb. 16th @ 9 PM Eastern.

Getting Cheated On

How do you respond to it? Just walk away? Physical/verbal confrontation? Revenge? What is the best way to respond to the ultimate relationship betrayal? We'll try to take a logical look at an emotional response.

Abortions Made Public

Stacey Dash was recently put on blast for an abortion that she had. The baby's father was very unhappy that another man talked her into killing their child and he took to social media to protest. Fair or foul? We'll discuss if something like this should be discussed by lawmakers.

The Power of Black Dollars

Patti Labelle made a killin' on her pies. Everyone rushed to the supermarkets and bought one. She made $1 million dollars in a single weekend. Why is it that black people can't seem to understand that they have the power to sway politics if they just focused their dollars?

T2Q Quickie: Black Wealth

"Black parents need to teach their kids not just how to survive, but how to thrive."

Stream the podcast here!
Mon., Feb. 15th @ 9 PM Eastern.

So many of us black people have spent most of our adult lives wanting to be "rich" because no one taught us how to focus on being "wealthy." There's a difference. We need to teach our kids how to leave something behind other than a burial debt owed to the funeral home.

Is it the YOLO life style that keeps us focused on today and not tomorrow? To a certain extent, it is, but there's more to it than that. Black families just simply need to focus and teach. That's all. It's that simple, but we just won't do it. Some of us would rather be seen in public than heard by our children. Think about that. So many black people would rather spend their time entertaining themselves than raising their children.

How do we fix it?

I'll discuss this and more on this podcast edition of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show! "No experts. Just opinions."

#T2Q Quickie: Cam Newton

Final thoughts on Cam Newton...

Stream the podcast here!

The Super Bowl has come and gone for the 50th time. Although I wasn't impressed very much by the game, it still had some interesting story lines. The main one is the story of one Cam Newton. The guy with the huge grin who terrorized defenses all season long.

Listen to why I think he went from being a victim of media scrutiny to a volunteer for it. I'll give a run down on what went down and how Cam went from being one of the NFL's rising stars to someone who may struggle to continue getting endorsements.

You can also listen to my Show Legends and how they feel about this Camtroversy as they give their takes on it. You can hear their entire commentary here in their final thoughts of last my last show.

Valentine responsibilities, kids taking medicine at school, and Beyonce's Super Bowl Halftime performance on tonight's show!

Stream the show here!
Tuesday, Feb. 9th @ 9 PM Eastern.

Valentine's Day

Sunday is a day of love in many households across the country (or lust). How will you spend it? What is your favorite Valentine's Day memory? What is the man's/woman's role to their mate on Valentine's Day?

Meds in School

A Texas girl was suspended for attempting to save another girl's life by allowing her to use her inhaler. Should a 12 year old be held responsible for her actions in sharing a "controlled substance" when she thought another child was dying?

Beyonce's Message in Music

FOX News lost their minds (again) over "blackness." Beyonce gave a tribue to the Black Panthers with her Super Bowl attire. She also performed a show that referenced black issues. Was it wrong to inject race in the Super Bowl? Was she too radical for the event?

Denver Wins Super Bowl 50!

Peyton and crew take down Cam in the Golden Bowl!

Stream the show here!

I hate that the NFL decided to relinquish the Roman numerals.  Super Bowl L would have been just fine, if you ask me.

Anyway, the game is over and the dust has settled.  Carolina takes home its first championship and they are partying hard in the Tar Heel state.  What was your take from the Big Game?  Who let their team down?  Who stepped up in a major way?

Also on Zone Coverage, the Hall of Fame was announce and there's no T.O.  Was he left off of the final tally because of his past behavior or because other great WRs have had to wait over recent years?

A Super Bowl Preview & Why the Pro Bowl Sucks

Peyton or Cam?

Stream the show here!

This is the time of the year when I get sad that football is coming to an end. It's the week before the Super Bowl and I know that once this game is over, there's no more meaningful football until September.

Peyton Manning wants to ride into the sunset while cementing his legacy in the process. If he wins his 2nd Super Bowl, then it will allow him to go out on a high note. If he loses, and performs average or worse in the process, then the "choke artist" moniker will never go away.

Cam Newton is loved by his fans and hated by everyone else. There's rarely any in-between. Will he add another championship (BCS) to his trophy shelf or is it too soon for him to reach glory?

We'll discuss that and that garbage of a Pro Bowl game as Zone Coverage returns to the Talk 2 Q Radio Show! "Talk sports from the couch!"

T2Q: Feb. 2, 2016 - Flint, Co-Parenting, & Marriage

Stream the show here!

Tons of water is being donated to Flint, MI and that's a beautiful thing.  However, at what point is the root of the problem going to be resolved?  Is there a game plan for fixing the water supply and healing a poisoned city?  Is throwing money at bottles of water really helping?

A father, who doesn't live with the mother of his child, disciplines his daughter by taking her cell phone away from her.  The mother files theft charges against him for not returning it after his custody period (a weekend) was over.  Fair or foul?

Lastly, what's the difference between a spouse and a life partner and what are the pros and cons for both?  Is marriage really just a piece of paper?  Is being a life partner simply having one foot out of the door?

We'll discuss these things and more on tonight's episode of the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."

NFL Conference Championship '16 Wrap Up

Broncos vs. Panthers!

Stream the show here!

We'll wrap up the Conference Championships and preview Super Bowl L! And yes, I refuse to stop using Roman numerals!

Payton Manning gets over on Tom Brady once again. Although it appears that Brady has had the most success against Payton, it's Payton who as had the most recent post season success. Payton Manning out played Tom Brady and Wade Phillips out schemed Bill Belichick. Could Payton ride off in the sunset a la John Elways on 2/7?

In the NFC, Cam Newton and the Panthers destroyed the Arizona Cardinals. Carson Palmer picked the wrong week to have the worst game of his career. It was his best opportunity at a shot at a Super Bowl ring and he laid an egg. Mistakes made on offense, defense, and special teams cost the Cardinals the game pretty early in this one. Cam dabbed his way into a shot at a Super Bowl championship to go with his BCS Championship.

Don't Loan Family/Friends Money. Period.

Do you loan money to family/friends?

Stream the show here!
Tue., Jan. 19th @ 10 PM Eastern.

The Powerball Lottery went over a billion dollars recently and everyone and their mom stood in line for a ticket. I won't lie. I got one, too. What do you do with all of that cash? You can do a lot of good for people you care about.

But what if you're just an everyday, 9-to-5 working person? There's only so much you can do with the money that you make, so the thought of giving it to someone else may make your skin crawl. However, people need help sometimes and they expect the people who care about them to oblige when needed.

Tonight we'll discuss why loaning friends and family can be a bad idea.

Q-on-1 w/Latoya Brown: Marrying for Citizenship

Thu., Jan. 14th @ 10 PM Eastern
How far would you go to find love?  Overseas?

Stream the podcast here!

A lot of us would be surprised at home many men overseas are searching for love here in the United States.  Okay, maybe they're not all searching for love.  A lot of them are searching for citizenship.  A green card.  An invitiation to stay in the United States.

Latoya Brown joins me to discuss how some people put a lot of effort into scamming their way into your hearts and into your country.  She was a victim of this and found herself in Ghana with a husband who did not have her best interest at heart.  Found out how she overcame and has helped others in the process.
Check out her book, "Wanted: Green Card" on Amazon and read her amazing story!

Dating Overseas: Risky or Rewarding?

What's the motivation for looking for love overseas?

Stream the show here!
Tue., Jan. 12th @ 10 PM Eastern.

The Internet gives us access to things that were once out of our reach.  Including people.  Especially people.  We spend quite a bit of time via Facebook, Twitter, etc., corresponding with people who are many miles away.  It's a great option to have being able to communicate at a distance.  Especially when the people you're encountering locally are getting on your nerves.

America's culture has taken a turn for the worse.  We're decades away from the days when people looked out for one another.  Now people are taught to take care of themselves and not care what others think/react.  That what makes dating in today's society so complicated.  Not only are you trying to find someone who is compatible to what you need, but you're also trying to find someone who gives two flips about other people.

So, to avoid the nonchalant American culture that's prevalent in today's relationships, some people choose to find a significant other overseas.  Why?

Is it because they're so hopeful to reach the United States that they'll be completely appreciative and loyal?  Is it because they're raised to have a certain respect level for relationships?

We'll discuss that, Trump vs. Clinton and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!  "No experts.  Just opinions."

Protect Yourself Before, During, & After Natural Disasters

Do you have a plan when it comes to a natural disaster?

Stream the show here!

You watch the news and you see that there's a storm approaching your area in a few hours.  The meteorologists are saying that the storm could possibly spawn tornadoes throughout the evening and that everyone should take cover.

What is the first thing that you do?  For a lot of us, it's change the channel to find something else to watch.

However, we should take weather events a lot more seriously than we do.  Every morning, I tune into my favorite meteorologist, Brittany Bell, to find out how I should approach each day.  Knowing what's going on during a weather event can not only help you protect your property, it can also help you protect your family.

We'll also discuss the following:
  • How important is it to trust your meteorologist?
  • What about natural disasters that occur with little-to-no warning?
  • How credible are fund raisers for disaster relief?
  • What can you do to avoid scams from getting repairs done from storm damage?

Daddy Rich and Bandz inform me of the life of a performer in Chattanooga, TN where country music is king, but rappers are doing their thing as well.  Get some insight on what's in store for them in the future and how they're taking their music across the country!

Changes in 2016 for T2Q!

The new year is bringing about some changes to the show, but let me start with what's going to remain the same first: the show will remain on the air for live shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 PM Eastern Time.  At least twice per week, and sometimes with an occasional bonus podcast, you'll get to enjoy the Talk 2 Q Radio Show as you normally do.

So, what's changing?

On Tuesdays, you'll get hot button discussions on relationships, current events, politics, sex, race relations and more!  The normal round table discussions will remain intact and the show will be exclusively dedicated to those type of topics.

On Wednesdays, you'll get Zone Coverage on T2Q!  Yes, the sport show will have its own dedicated night to discuss nothing but sports!  No longer will sports fans have to wait until the end of a show in order to get their sports fix because there will now be an exclusive night for Zone Coverage!

On (random) Thursdays, you'll be treated to podcasts which will include Q-on-1 discussions.  These podcasts will normally feature a guest discussing an interesting topic that affects their life or could affect ours as well.  There will also be podcasts that feature just me giving commentary on a particular topic.  I've had people request that I share my view points more on certain subjects, so I will give my opinions on various topics.

Even as the Talk 2 Q Radio Show approaches its 5th birthday the show is still evolving!  Stay tuned as I do my best to continue to give you an entertaining array of topics for you to voice your opinion.  The platform is still yours on T2Q and that is something that will never change!

Happy New Year!
