I have a chat with a lady who turned her hobby into a business!  Julie Shipley cooks and ships soup to people all over the country with her business.  On the podcast, she shares information on what steps people should make before starting their business.  A lot of people may not know the opportunities they have that can assist their businesses, but Julie gives tips on some of them.

We discuss how she got started and the types of soups that she has on the menu.  It's a very interesting podcast that documents the American dream and how Julie achieved it!  Here's more on her business:

We started out by first catering to restaurants, since that is where this whole story really began, remember? They loved our delicious, attitude-filled, bountiful bowls of gourmet, homemade soup goodness and the Soup Shop was born.

Now we deliver serious soup anywhere and anyone can enjoy the love, passion, dedication, fun and souperior soup making attitude we put into each and every bowl of our soup. We want you to enjoy it as much as we do, but we also we want you to know we absolutely love making our soup for each and every one of you that enjoys it.

Q-on-1 w/Author Victoria Bolton

Friday, Sept. 30th @ 12 PM Eastern.

It's me and the award-winning author in a Q-on-1 conversation!

Duration: 45 mins.

I enjoyed my conversation with Ms. Victoria Bolton about her Rude Boy trilogy of books and you will, too!

The Pacific Book award winner gives the listeners insight on the characters and story lines in her books.  We discuss her idea to write the books and some of the work involved in self-publishing.

Here's Victoria in her own words:

"I am the author of the Rude Boy USA Series, the first installment which was published in December 2015. The positive response to the series from readers all over the world has been an honor. I’m looking forward to bringing you new stories in the future.

I am a single gal who writes novels and works during the day for little money. If you would have told me that I would be doing this when I was younger, I would have said that you were crazy.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be married with three kids, own a cat, be a nurse and a astronaut but that did not come true. I used to wear glasses and I freak out at the sight of too much blood.

The writing part is cool and very rewarding. It has changed my life for the better and for that I am forever grateful."

What started as a 10-15 minute interview reached 40+ minutes as I found myself wanting to pick her brain for more information on her product and her methods to create!

5 Tips That Make Relationships Work

Monday, Sept. 26th @ 12 PM Eastern.
We are born into this world as selfish beings.  So, how can we change that mindset and find a mate?

A baby wants to do what he/she wants when he/she wants to do it.  They will cry when they can't have their way.  Over time, they are taught to appreciate and love those who have their best interest at heart.  Until society teaches them otherwise.

Is making a relationship work as difficult as most people make it out to be?  It's two people who love being together more than they love being apart.  Sounds simple enough, right?  Well, not so fast, Speedy Gonzales.  The hardest part of a relationship is finding someone with the same level of commitment that you have.  The same mindset.  The same goals in mind.

You can't control what others do, but there are some things that you can do to ensure that you're holding up your end of things.

On this podcast, I have a Q-on-1 discussion with blogger and author, Jamell Crouthers.  We discuss a few things on the show, but mostly about his view of the world and how he hopes to influence change.  His book, The World We Live In: A Poetry Book on Societal Issues, looks to do just that!

Available now on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and other locations, this book focuses on fictional characters and chronicles their life experiences.  Each person details an experience that changed and impacted them in ways they never considered.  There are only names and no race or ethnicity mentioned in this book.  The reason being that Jamell wants the readers to understand and relate to their experiences as human beings.

Talk 2 Author, Tommie Mabry!

Tommie Mabry lives by the words, “I cannot walk in my future with my foot in my past."

Tue., June 28th @ 9 PM Eastern.

Duration: 45 mins.

Mabry, 28, grew up in midtown, or what the locals call Northend, a neighborhood in Jackson that he says was not necessarily the easiest neighborhood to grow up in.

“I have lived a life that’s beyond 28,” Mabry says. “The average 28-year-old hasn’t lived close to how much I have been through. … I come from the 'hood, I come from poverty. No one from my family finished high school. ... I don’t have a family member before me to ever finish college.”

Growing up with no one to serve as a model for mainstream success, Mabry turned to life in the underground economy and ardently abided by the code of the street. Mabry was expelled from seven elementary schools and three middle schools in the Jackson Public Schools district, and by age 11, he was serving time for burglary and began getting his first tattoos as early as the 5th grade.

Tonight, I'll talk to him about how he turned his life around and went from a bad example to a role model.  You'll have the chance to talk to him as well by dialing (347) 202-0215.

Fellas!  Morgan says "stop saggin'!"

While visiting one of their favorite fast food restaurants, two sisters observed a young man walking in the mall, sagging his pants which revealed his underwear. One sister was so disgusted with seeing this awful site that she immediately lost her appetite and couldn’t finish her meal. It was at that table in the food court at a mall in Mobile, Alabama that G.A.B.S. was formed.

The sisters believed that they could use their gift of “gab” to start a conversation with other girls, and those girls could have a conversation with other girls, and so on, about working together to end this disgusting sagging pants epidemic. They were convinced that if enough girls were able to band together, through their mutual dislike of seeing boys sagging, they could get them to “pull ‘em up”.

Bringing girls of all ages together to have a conversation about this horrible fashion fad, how it’s affecting our community, and what we can do to reverse this fashion trend is the first step toward making a change.

I welcome Morgan McCane and her parents to the show to discuss how G.A.B.S. came to be and where they want to see it go.

We discuss one of the most famous serial killers of all-time, Jack the Ripper, and a convention that was created to discuss the unsolved mystery around him and more. I welcome Christopher George (Baltimore, MD) and Robert Anderson (New York) to the Talk 2 Q Radio Show podcast.

I'm joined by two gentleman who have taken the discussions about a mysterious serial killer from the late 1800's and have built that into a convention that some of you can attend April 8th-10th in Baltimore, Maryland.

* Deadline to get tickets is Thu., March 31st *

RipperCon.com

"Jack the Ripper" is the popular name given to a serial killer who killed a number of prostitutes in the East End of London in 1888. The name originates from a letter written by someone who claimed to be the killer published at the time of the murders. He was not the first serial killer, but he was probably the first to appear in a large metropolis at a time when the general populace had become literate and the press was a force for social change.

The press was also partly responsible for creating many myths surrounding the Ripper and ended up turning a sad killer of women into a "bogey man", who has now become one of the most romantic figures in history. The Ripper was never caught and it is the mysteries surrounding this killer that both add to the romance of the story and creating an intellectual puzzle that people still want to solve.
